ToonCrafter is a Generative Cartoon Interpolation project.

ToonCrafter's main function is to generate smooth transition frames between two cartoon key frames, achieving cartoon animation interpolation.

ToonCrafter was developed by researchers from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, City University of Hong Kong, and Tencent AI Lab, including Jinbo Xing, Hanyuan Liu, Menghan Xia, Yong Zhang, Xintao Wang, Ying Shan, and Tien-Tsin Wong.

ToonCrafter uses core technologies including: Toon rectification learning, Dual-reference-based 3D VAE decoder, and Sparse sketch guidance.

ToonCrafter can be applied to: Cartoon sketch interpolation, Reference-based sketch colorization (single-image and dual-image reference), and Sparse-sketch-guided animation generation.

With ToonCrafter, you only need to prepare two keyframe animation images as input, and ToonCrafter will automatically generate the intermediate frames for you. No animation experience is required to use ToonCrafter.

In ToonCrafter, the start keyframe represents the first frame of the desired generated animation, while the end keyframe represents the last frame. As the animation generated by ToonCrafter typically lasts 1-2 seconds, the difference between the two images should not be too large. Smaller motion amplitude differences lead to better generation results in ToonCrafter.

When using ToonCrafter, the difference between the uploaded images should not be too large, corresponding to the motion effect achievable in 1 second or 10 frames in the real world. ToonCrafter supports image formats such as WEBP, PNG, and JPG.

Yes, in addition to uploading keyframe images, ToonCrafter allows you to guide the animation generation process through text descriptions (prompts) to achieve the desired animation effects.

If you have purchased credits and are using fast generation, it typically takes around 20 seconds to generate an animation between two keyframe images. However, the exact processing time depends on several factors: 1. The number of keyframe images you've uploaded 2. Whether you've enabled loop mode 3. The complexity of your images More keyframes, enabled loop mode, or more complex images may increase the processing time.

ToonCrafter generates animation videos in MP4 format at 8 fps. Each input image results in 1 second of video, with a maximum resolution of 512x512 pixels. The premium looping feature allows these videos to play seamlessly twice, enhancing the viewing experience.

Credit consumption and video length depend on the number of keyframes you upload and whether loop mode is enabled. Here's how it works: 1. Basic credit calculation: Credits consumed = Number of keyframes - 1 2. If loop mode is enabled, add 1 extra credit 3. Every two keyframes generate 2 seconds of video 4. Loop mode doubles the final video duration.
